It is with much sadness that we must report the death of our chairman, the Rev Johnny Paton. Johnny had been at the “helm” and kept us on an even keel (he loved a good analogy!) for more than 4 years. He always had a clear vision for the club – he was instrumental in navigating us through the recent clubhouse refurbishment, and in plotting our route to a brighter future.

Johnny loved his golf, playing off a very respectable 14 handicap, and he could often be seen on the course competing in club events – so long as they didn’t interfere with his Sunday “day job”. He was justifiably proud of becoming club champion last September.

Johnny will be a huge loss to the golf club, and indeed across the whole island community. Our thoughts are with his wife Cathy and the rest of the family.
